New York death metal titans IMMOLATION are charging into 2026 with major momentum, announcing their long-awaited twelfth studio album, Descent, set for release on April 10th via Nuclear Blast Records, alongside the release of the first single and music video, “Adversary”, and a packed touring schedule across Europe and North America.
Since their genre-defining 1991 debut Dawn of Possession, IMMOLATION have remained one of the most uncompromising and influential forces in extreme metal. Their unmistakable sound continues to evolve while staying rooted in the band’s core identity, driven by Robert Vigna’s signature guitar work, towering atmospheres and the commanding vocal presence of Ross Dolan.
The first glimpse of Descent comes with “Adversary”, a punishing track built on merciless blast beats, dissonant riffing and cavernous growls. The song showcases IMMOLATION at their most aggressive and focused, while pushing their sound into darker and more expansive territory. The accompanying music video was directed by Vigna himself, reinforcing the band’s complete creative control.

Descent – Recording & artwork
Descent was recorded across two locations. Guitars, bass and vocals were tracked by Justin Passamonte at Jpass Music, while drums were recorded at Mercinary Studios with Noah Buchanan. Production duties were shared between the band and long-time collaborator Zack Ohren, who also handled mixing and mastering, resulting in a powerful and detailed sound that captures both the band’s ferocity and their brooding, atmospheric depth.
Artwork duties were once again entrusted to Eliran Kantor, whose haunting cover art perfectly reflects the mood of the album, with additional booklet illustrations by Santiago Jaramillo (Triple Seis Design).
